The SummeRun & Walk for Ovarian Cancer is happening this Sunday, July 24th. The SummerRun & Walk is a 5k event presented by Swedish Hospital. The event was created by Dr. Saul Rivkin, M.D., of The Rivkin Center, a research organization dedicated to ovarian cancer. If you would like to participate in the event, you can register for $35.00 in person beginning at 6:30 am. Registration and race warm up will take place at the intersection of Marion and Minor Streets next to Swedish Hospital. If you are not running or walking, you can donate to participants or teams on the official website, or simply show up to offer your support on the sidelines. For more information, please visit SummeRun & Walk website.
The Chapel Bar in Capitol Hill will be closing on September 3rd after a final celebration during Labor Day Weekend. The Chapel Bar, just off of Pine Street and Melrose Ave., has been a hot spot in the Capitol Hill neighborhood since its opening 8 years ago. I’ve only been there a handful of times, but it was always fun. There are no future plans for the space as of now. It’s sad to see a fun place go. Good luck to those who were part of The Chapel Bar.
The Capitol Hill Block Party is almost here!! This Friday-Sunday, July 22-24, the three day music festival will feature close to 100 bands on 5 different stages and close down a portion of the Capitol Hill Pike/Pine corridor accessible only to event attendees. I went last year and had the time of my life, and the weather was 85+ degrees and not a cloud in sight. If we’re lucky, we will see the same weather this weekend! Although 3-day passes are sold out, single day passes are still available for purchase on the website. See great music, eat delicious food and drink some beers in the garden this weekend at the Capitol Hill Block Party. If it’s anything like last year’s event, you’ll be sad to have missed it!! Visit the official CHBP website for more information. See you there!
