Capitol Hill Block Party Lineup Announced

Attention all Seattle music buffs: The Capitol Hill Block Party lineup has been announced! The annual  3-day music festival, which was previously facing some opposition from city planners and businesses, was officially approved for its third day last week.  However, Block Party organizers are still awaiting final permits from the Seattle Special Events Committee.  Last year, the concert drew more than 20,000 people (I was one of them!) and resulted in a quite a few qualms about the scope and size of the festival which would ultimately affect the 2011 festival.  Safety plans are still being finalized, as are other details, but it’s a good sign that they’ve released a partial lineup today!  Tickets for the event go on sale Friday, May 20th.  My suggestion is get them early, because they will sell out fast.  Also, scalping is pretty much unsuccessful, at least judging by the number of ticketless Seattleites that were trying to hunt them down in the entrance lines last year.  I am so excited for the Capitol Hill Block Party and you should be too!  Also, check out this video taken of the action last year.  *I only ask you to watch it because I’m in it.

New Apartment Building on First Hill

Construction on a new, high-rise apartment tower in First Hill Seattle began last week, called 1200 Madison.  The building is at Minor Avenue and Madison Streets, near to Capitol Hill Seattle.  The site was previously occupied by USBank which was relocated to Boren and Madison Street.  The developer, Holland Partner Group of Vancouver gained city approval for the project in 2008, from a 2006 permit application.  The building will have 237 units.
